The best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot hoover and mop to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
