WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the Item Upgrader Kit by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item upgrader mod level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item upgrading that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It's Best item upgrader to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
