A Brief History History Of Item Upgrade
From Dark Warriors Wiki
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrades upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item upgrader mod, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will display a preview of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item level upgrade (More) has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrade upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
