There are several medications used to treat adult ADHD. Stimulants are substances that target the dopamine neurotransmitter which is responsible for controlling movement and emotions. It also plays a part in motivation. Non-stimulant medications like bupropion (Wellbutrin) which targets dopamine and norepinephrine are also available.
